We began defining our regional components by their opacity. We either left the PETG transparent, partially sanded side A, sanded side A, sanded side A and partially sanded side B, or sanded both sides A and B. We then used a light meter to measure the amount of light that was transmitted through each of the panel opacities. A later iteration of the opacity study involved a random pattern spray painted on the PETG based on the length of the aluminum strip where each length was assigned a percentage of opacity.
